dancers2The Atlantic City Free Public Library will hold a Chinese New Year celebration, featuring entertainment, activities and an informative presentation, on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m.
No registration is required, and all programs are free.
1 to 2:15 p.m. - Traditional Music and Dance Program;  Martial Arts Demonstration: The Greater Philadelphia Minghui School Dance Team will perform.

Founded in July 2007, the Dance Team has performed extensively, including at the Asian Cultural Festival in September 2007, VIP Reception at the Chinese New Year Spectacular in Philadelphia in January 2008, Second annual Women Cultivating Women Awards Ceremony in March 2008 and the Evening of Art event at University of Delaware in March 2008.
Also, the  Zhao Changjun Kung Fu Institute of Moorestown will perform a martial arts demonstration. Changjun was a highly decorated Kung Fu master and teacher in his native China.

There will be a Peking Opera performance with songs, dances and martial arts-like movements. The group will wear authentic Chinese costumes, along with distinctive make-up as it relates to the performance.
1 to 4 p.m. - Hands-on activities: The library will also offer a variety of activities. Attendees can try Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting and brush painting. All supplies will be provided.
2:30 to 3:30 p.m. -  Chinese Medicine Lecture with Dr. Jingduan Yang: Dr. Yang's topic is "Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine." Dr. Yang will introduce the basic principals of traditional Chinese medicine and how people can apply it to their daily lives. Dr. Yang is a board certified psychiatrist and an international expert on classic forms of Chinese Medicine. He incorporates acupuncture and traditional Chinese herbal medicine with modern medicine in the care of patients with a variety of emotional and physical illnesses. Dr Yang is founder and medical director of Tao Institute of Mind & Body Medicine, and he practices at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
