Curbside Service

What do I need to do to use the Curbside Pickup Service?

Step one: To request library materials
• Library members can log into their account at opac.acfpl.org and place a hold, email reflib(at)acfpl.org or call the Curbside Service Hotline at (609) 345-6115 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

• If you’re not sure what to pick, tell a staff member what interests you and we’ll be happy to make a selection for you.

Step two: Wait for confirmation
• When your items are ready, a staff member will notify you about your pickup time and review the pickup procedure.

• Hours for curbside pickup are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. at the Main Library (Tennessee Avenue doors).

Step three: Pick up your items
• We will have parking space reserved next to the Main Library for the Curbside Pickup Service.

• When you get to the Main Library, call (609) 345-6115 to let us know you have arrived.

• Please have your mask on (covering your mouth and nose) and have the last four digits of your barcode ready.

• A library staff member, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will bag your items in a plastic bag and place the items on a cart. The staff member will wheel the cart outside through the Tennessee Avenue doors. Please take the bag from the cart.

How long will it take for my request to be ready?

We will fill your requests as quickly as possible. If the materials are available, most requests will be ready within 1-2 business days.

How will I know when my request is ready?

A staff member will contact you.

How long will you hold my items?

Once you are notified by a staff member that your items are ready, they will remain on the hold shelf until 4 p.m. the following day.

What items, and how many of them, can I check out?

Library cardholders can check out books, DVDs, CDs and magazines. You can check out as many as five items, two of which can be DVDs.

Do you offer the Curbside Pickup Service at both library locations?

No, right now the Curbside Pickup Service is only available at the Main Library.

Do you have parking at the Main Library for those picking up or returning materials?

Yes, the 15-minute parking area located next to the Main Library is reserved for those using our Curbside Pickup Service, returning items to the book drop or quickly using the library. Also, we validate up to two hours of parking for those who park at the New York Avenue Garage. Be sure to bring your ticket stub so we can validate it for you.

Do I need a library card to use this service?

Yes. Library cards are free to Atlantic City and Atlantic County residents.

What if I have mobility issues and cannot leave my vehicle?

Call the library at (609) 345-6115 when you arrive and we will place your bag within reach.

• We are committed to ensuring that our programs and services are accessible to everyone. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding accessibility please call (609) 345-6115 or email reflib(at)acfpl.org so we may work to accommodate you.

How are you protecting the safety of patrons and staff?

The contactless Curbside Pickup Service provides maximum social distancing for the safety of both patrons and staff. Staff will wear gloves and masks when handling all library materials. Also, library print materials are quarantined for four days, while CDs and DVDs are quarantined for one. The day after being quarantined, book covers and flaps are wiped with disinfecting wipes, as are CD/DVD cases and the discs inside them.

How long will this service be available?

That is still to be determined.

Who is eligible for this service?

This privilege is reserved for Atlantic City Library members who comply with our safety guidelines. We reserve the right to remove access to this service from anyone who does not respect those.

What if I want to borrow materials but can't make it to the library?

Our library members can download eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music and television shows through hoopla and Overdrive. To get started, visit the hoopla and Overdrive websites or download the apps on your smartphone.
